After three years of writing hundreds of thousands of words for different companies through PubLoft and my own personal blog, it is time to take all the skills I've accumulated and apply them to help a16z better support their current startups and attract new ones. When I saw the opening for an editorial partner on the a16z team page, I knew that this was a perfect fit for me.
While working on two companies in the past 3years, I spent my free time writing on trends in tech. The posts I write range from short-form quick thoughts like “How to Beat LinkedIn” (https://medium.com/callmemat/how-to-beat-linkedin-b6689458d28e), to long-form posts like “A Primer on the Future of Work” (https://blog.gigloft.com/the-state-of-the-future-of-work-in-2019/). I’ve written over 500 articles article on Medium since 2015, and 100 of them are generally focussed on startups and identifying trends that people should focus on. Additionally, I have experience hosting a podcast called Forward Thinking Founders, where I interview early-stage founders about the idea and how big it can get (https://www.breaker.audio/forward-thinking-founders) You might know my next guest, Immad Akhund.
I also have experience keeping up a blog and a newsletter for PubLoft, so I know what it takes to stick to a timeline. Lastly, I keep my finger on the pulse of #TechTwitter, news outlets, and usually know about trends from the ground floor. At 7:10am on Tuesday, September 10th, I already know Stripe is launching a Brex competitor today, Softbank is urging WeWork to hold off their IPO, and Nir Eyal is launching his nest product book (I’d write a review on behalf of a16z)
My experience of building up a company from 0 to $25,000 in seven months proves that I can execute quickly and my interest in technology, startups, and writing has never been stronger. I have always admired the content a16z puts out through podcasts and articles, and I think adding me to the team would only make the content stronger. I hope you consider me as an editorial partner at a16z.
