I think people overvalue the external opinions on their dreams more than their internal aspirations for them. This results in a lot of people not reaching their wildest aspirations.
When things get hard and when nothing is working, it’s hard to keep going when none of your friends or family think you should keep going. It’s an unsettling feeling to dig deep down, and have the actual conviction that you’re coming to come out of the hole you dug yourself on the other side.
The big challenge here is that most people in this position never make it to the other side. The friends. The family. They are usually right all along.
The key is to know when to have conviction and sink your heels just a little deeper into the ground, vs. knowing you might just be wrong.
